Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
Assessment & Testing
Testing NOW AVAILABLE at Texas High School
for Grades 9-12
Students must be in compliance with the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) to enroll in coursework at Texas public institutions of higher education per Texas Education Code. The law requires all entering college students to be assessed for college readiness in English Language Arts & Reading and math unless the student qualifies for an exemption or demonstrates college readiness through successful completion of college-level coursework in the related content area. TSI criteria can be met through ACT, SAT, or TSIA2 assessment results.
Students must complete the TSI Assessment (TSIA2) and meet the college readiness benchmarks by subject area before they can enroll in entry-level college-level courses. Students may also have the option to enroll in college-level coursework with a co-enrollment in a related developmental education course/intervention. TSIA2 results are available immediately after completion of the assessment and can be emailed to students.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the cost for TSIA2 testing?
TSIA2 exams are $10 for each attempt at Texas High School. ELAR and math are separate tests. Students will pay for test(s) upon registration.
What happens if a student does not meet the benchmark on one or all parts of the TSIA2?
Students must meet TSI eligibility requirements to register in restricted college classes, including restricted DC courses.
What are the minimum passing college readiness benchmarks on the TSIA?
- Math 950 CRC
- OR CRC of 910-949 and Diagnostic of 6
- ELAR 945 CRC & 5 Essay
